One of the single most useful documents there is to find Othernets in my opinion is a document that was created and shared by NuSkooler from Xibalba. Click here for the document. It has a list of network names, their corresponding zone number(s), the WHQ location and the Administering SysOp's name, a current status for the network whether Active or not, any info about the network such as what it's about etc, a link to their latest infopack if available is also listed.
As an example, if you wish to get your BBS connected to "fsxNet", you could use this document, see that the WHQ for it is located at Agency @ agency.bbs.nz and you can download an info pack here: http://www.bbs.nz/fsxnet.zip. Inside this infopack you will find an application form for signing up to become a node on this "Othernet", plus you could also connect via telnet to Agency and speak with the SysOp, Avon about joining too.
Add some details, infopacks, history, etc about FidoNet and Othernets.
